This is us at the airport, SO EXCITED!! It was a late(r) flight so I definitely fell asleep on the plane.
When we got to the Portland airport it was.. I wanna say around 10:00. We got screwed over by the rental car company then off we went! We passed over Portland when it was dark but it was still so beautiful. Eventually we got on this really windy long LONG road (thank heavens I didn't get sick) and it was PITCH BLACK. We realized we were just surrounded by trees. It was so cool! I fell asleep (surprise surprise) and when we got to the hotel we crashed. But the next morning we could actually see where we were and HOLY GORGEOUS AND EVERYTHING I EVER DREAMED OF!!! Our hotel was thee cutest little ma and pa sort of joint and so quaint and pretty, and right on the beach!! I don't love water with animals in it so this kind of beach was perfect; beautiful, a little too cold to swim, and surrounded by pines!
The first day was all sunshine! We took a walk around the beach and found a live crab!! We almost took it back to our kitchen hotel to eat but that would be mean and gross. :)
The rest of that first day was spent exploring Yachats (AKA the most beautiful place on earth!) we ate breakfast at this little restaurant and Inn called The Drift Inn. It ended up being one of our favorite places we ate!
Then we went across the street to a tillamook ice cream shop because its never too early for ice cream! And we ate it as we walked on a little road by the beach. Little did we know we'd get ice cream from there EVERY DAY!
Then we got in the rental car and just drove down the coast! We got to a beautiful spot called Thor's Well. There's a hole in the rock and when waves come into shore, they splash out of the hole and make a big.. rocket of water. Its so pretty.
We spent most of the day just driving down the coast with the windows down listening to music and feeling the sea spray! I would never ever get tired of that scenery. We would stop whenever we wanted to get out and take pictures and follow little trails. I wish we would've known the terrain a little better cause we definitely would've brought our hiking shoes and hiked some of those trails. The next day was spent about the same, eating at yummy yummy restaurants and getting ice cream and exploring and spotting whales and sea lions and finding the most beautiful spot where all you can see for miles and miles is pine trees... I was in absolute heaven.
We also went to beautiful Heceta Head light house. It was gorgeous and a little creepy :) but mostly so beautiful. We couldn't go all the way up to the top unless we paid a lot of money and no thanks, but we had a good enough idea.
The next day was TILLAMOOK DAY!!! We love tillamook cheese, yogurt, mudslide ice cream, the whole shabang. So we knew we wanted to tour the factory and try all their samples. The drive there ended up being almost more beautiful than the coast. It is in the greenest, most lush valley, nestled in a little bowl between the little mountains with ocean right on the other side. It had the perfect small town feel. Little houses and school bus stops old grocery stores. It was unreal. Tillamook itself was everything we hoped it would be. We sampled so much cheese, bought ice cream and tshirts, and sadly had to face time Mckay while he was getting dropped off at the MTC. That was really hard not to be with my family but I was so thankful to be spending that time with my new husband.
a yummy restaurant we ate at on the way
On the drive home right at sunset, we stopped at Depo Bay, where supposedly theres lots of resident whales you can spot. Well we spotted one! I was so excited I couldn't even talk fast enough to point it out to Daniel! It was beautiful. On our way home we stopped and got a pizza and watched the princess bride to fall asleep.
Our final day we were so so sad to be leaving. We ate breakfast at Rose's Bakery. The Celestial Snail was truly celestial!!!
We went to Alder Glass Blowing House this day. It was so neat!! It was back in the woods and you just walk in and watch artists make things out of glass. The man there that day was named Treasure.. He was so nice! We bought a little glass egg with all kinds of designs in it. It was just us and old people in there, it was seriously so cool though, one of my favorite things we did. After that we ate at a restaurant on the coast called Mo's. Right outside our window were a bunch of seals jumping in and out of the water while we ate. It was seriously so much fun and so hard for us to leave.
^ this is the view of Mt Hood from the plane. It really was hard for us to leave but we were also so excited to go home and start our lives together as husband and wife. We both say almost every day how much we miss Oregon and how we would 100% live there. So beautiful. And Mckay is living there right now, lucky duck. We are already planning on going back (with my parents this time cause this place is my dads heaven, I already know it). Oregon will always hold a special place in my heart, its where I fell even more in love with my husband!
